This historic traditional courtyard inn, the oldest in England, owned by the National Trust, is run by the local Chiltern Brewery.

The main bar usually features three or more Chiltern ales, along with one or two guest beers, usually a Stout or Porter in the winter. There is usually a real cider on sale as well as a helpful display of current and planned beers.

A second snug bar was recently added, providing a quieter space for those who wish

The ales are often used in the cooking and in their cheeses and chutneys. It is one the few pubs that has no television or piped music.
